Two special services honoring our nation’s veterans for their military service will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11 and 12, in the towns of Luray and Stanley, respectively.
On Friday, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, members of Luray VFW Post 621 and Luray’s American Legion Post 22 will host a Veteran’s Day ceremony with speeches, music and presentations aimed to inspire American pride for those who protect our liberties. The ceremony will take place at VFW Post 621 just off Route 211 east of Luray.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Town of Stanley is sponsoring a Veteran’s Ceremony at 1 p.m. at Lighthouse Gospel Church located at 137 Mattie View Drive. Light refreshments will be served.
While the Luray ceremony is an annual event, Stanley has not hosted a Veteran’s Day event in several years. A veteran’s recognition event planned in the Town of Shenandoah on Nov. 5 was cancelled.
