~ From a press release issued by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries

RICHMOND — The Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (DGIF) is beginning its biennial process for changing the regulations guiding recreational freshwater fishing, aquatic wildlife management, and boating.

New regulations will go into effect Jan. 1, 2021.

This process offers the opportunity for citizens to suggest potential regulatory changes directly to DGIF during the scoping period, which will run from December 30, 2019 through February 28, 2020. All items submitted will be reviewed by DGIF staff, summarized, and presented to DGIF’s Wildlife and Boat Committee on March 18 and the full Board on March 19. These presentations will occur at DGIF’s headquarters at 7870 Villa Park Drive, Henrico, Va.
