Age 80, Luray, Va.
Wanda Belle Taylor Shenk, 80, of Luray, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025.
She was born on November 30, 1944, in Virginia and was a daughter of the late Russell Taylor and Charlotte Taylor.
Wanda worked at Page County High School, where she offered encouragement, love, and steady care to hundreds of students. She helped with the PCHS cheerleading team and volunteered at Page One in Luray.
Wanda was an active member of the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren. Earlier in life, she attended Ida Grove Gospel Chapel, where she often played the piano and helped lead music. At Mount Zion, she devoted her energy to the Christmas play, Vacation Bible School, and the church choir.
She loved welcoming others into her home — hosting her family and their friends each Wednesday, celebrating holidays with joyful gatherings of loved ones, and later, enjoying weekly bluegrass gatherings up on the hill, at Wanda’s Knob.
Wanda was a devout Christian and loved her family dearly.
On March 12, 1976, she married Charles Benton Shenk, who survives.
In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by two daughters, Leeanne Dofflemyer Nealis and husband David of Luray, and Millette Printz Forney and husband Mike of Stanley; a son, Charles Shenk Jr. and companion Terry of Stanley; two sisters, Barbara Kling of Stanley, and Laura Meadows and husband Kevin of Elkton; seven grandchildren, Jacob Dofflemyer, Tyler Printz, Trask Printz, Megan Rodgers Good, Bradley Shenk, Dustin Shenk and Chad Shenk; and four great-grandchildren, Vivienne Printz, Evelyn Printz, Ida Good and Benton Good.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard “Bo” Rodgers Jr.; two sisters, Margaret Supples and Betty Topley; and a brother, Terry Taylor.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, at the Mount Zion Church of the Brethren, with a memorial service at 4 p.m., conducted by Pastor Gary Major. A meal and fellowship will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
