June 2, 1911 — Mr. McKim, who is one of the contractors putting in the extension in the water system, says that if nothing unforeseen happens the work will be completed by the last of June.
The work is found to be a stubborn and difficult one but is progressing well. The prevailing kind of rock encountered is a kind of quartz that is very hard and uses up the drills sometimes to the tune of two of three an hour.
The first of the week a mile of pipe had already been laid at the reservoir. About 30 men were at work here, while a dozen were delivering at the intake at the upper end of the line.
Under the contract the quicker the work is done the more the contractors get and the more the town saves.
