December 27, 1962 — It was a real old- fashioned “White Christmas” for Page County and most of the state this year and, although the snow put a crimp in many folks’ plans for visiting distant relatives and friends, it was a day of joyful celebration.
This was Page County’s second white Christmas in succession.
Snow began to fall shortly after midnight on Christmas Eve and by early morning some five to six inches had accumulated, making the countryside look like a Christmas card.
Roads and highways were quickly cleared by the highway department, however, travel was too hazardous for most people to do much visiting and in more than one household the huge traditional Christmas dinners were prepared only to be enjoyed by those who resided in the household.
