Age 86, Luray, Va.

Wayne Franklin Cubbage, 86, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

He was born on August 29, 1937, in Stanley and was a son of the late Elbert Franklin Cubbage and Florine Virginia Hilliard Cubbage.

Wayne was a member of the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren in Stanley.

On August 17, 1957, he married Mary Ann Painter Cubbage, who died on January 4, 2004.

He is survived by four daughters, Darlene Denise Campbell (Page) of Luray, and Debra Sue Duncan, Donna Kay Atkins (Larry), and Kathy Ann Huffman, all of Stanley; a son, Dennis Lee Cubbage (Doris) of Luray; three sisters, Nancy Alberti of Orange, Doris Good of Shenandoah, and Gayle Hammer of Stanley; 15 grandchildren, Cindy McCoy, Stephanie Cubbage, Jeremy Cubbage, Josh Kidd, Wesley Atkins, Adam Atkins, April Robbins, Brittany Weaver, Colin Huffman, Devan Duncan, Danae Campbell, Erin Duncan-Benitez, Jeff Duncan, Brian Duncan, and Sarah Cubbage; 29 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Wayne Cubbage; a son-in-law, Barry Duncan; a brother, Jerry Cubbage; and three sisters, Ruby Quintrell, Trudy Dodson and Janice Chrisman.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the Leake’s Chapel Church of the Brethren by the Rev. Charles Turner. Burial will be in the Leake’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the Bradley Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leake’s Chapel Church or to the Stanley Volunteer Fire Department.
