Barbara Elaine Dungan Hoffman, 85, of Stanley, died on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Life Care Center in New Market, VA.
She was born April 6, 1940, in Dayton, OH and was a daughter of the late Eldon and Geraldine Dungan.
On December 16, 1977, she married George Hoffman, who preceded her in death on July 22, 2004. She and George moved to Page County in the early 1980’s. Through the years they enjoyed traveling and camping.
Barbara was a devoted member of Stanley Baptist Church for many years. She was active in the Women’s Fellowship Group and sang in the choir.
Barbara “Hoffie,” as she was known to many, was an excellent cook. Her delicious cinnamon bread was a cherished gift to many.
She was also an excellent seamstress, making many clothes for George and her over the years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing books with her friends.
Barbara was a founding member of the “Penguin club,” a group of friends who regularly went out to eat and celebrate birthdays and any other reason they could find to enjoy being together. These ladies were her closest friends whom she loved dearly.
She loved dogs and was a wonderful “fur mom” to Ginger, Lady, Chippy, and Sophie.
Barbara is survived by her son, Gary Ginter (Terri) of Ohio, and two grandchildren, Garrett Ginter (Meredith) and Tara (Stephen)Gee. Also, four great-grandchildren, Owen, Gavin, Weston, and Finley Gee. In addition, her stepson, Stephen (Meredith) Hoffman, and step-grandson, Russell Hoffman.
She is also survived by her “Virginia family,” Jim and Barbara Burner, Debbie and Jim Kile, Julie, Chris, Jordan Mercer and Eddie and Betty Griffith.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three siblings.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Stanley Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
