Betty Mae Duvall Dowling, 86, of Luray, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
She was born on March 6, 1937, in Sandy Spring, MD, and was a daughter of the late James Duvall Sr. and Bertha I. Poole Duvall Moore.
Betty worked in the physics lab at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Melvin L. Brookman Sr. and William “Bill” Dowling.
Betty is survived a daughter, Fay L. Burton of Luray; four sons, Melvin L. Brookman Jr. of Eagle Rock, and James R. Brookman Sr., Timothy R. Brookman Sr. and Rex A. Brookman Sr., all of Covington; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Murphy; three brothers, Jesse Daniel Duvall, James Duvall Jr. and Robert Louis “Doc” Duvall; and a stepsister, Margaret Deist.
As per her wishes, there will be no services.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
