Betty Mae Titus Stickman

Age 82, Rileyville, Va.

Betty Mae Titus Stickman, 82, of Rileyville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 14, 2023. 

Betty was born August 21, 1941 in Lucketts, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Roy Francis Titus and Helen Ann Ballenger Titus. 

She married Ralph Olander Stickman on August 20, 1960, in Waxpool, Virginia, and lived in Arcola, Virginia, until moving to Rileyville in 1989.

She worked for 28 years as the administrative assistant to the Chief of Police in Fairfax County, Virginia. She worked with Colonel William L. Durrer, Colonel Richard King, Colonel Carroll Buracker and Colonel John Granfield.

Betty spent her later years farming alongside her loving husband, spending time with her grandchildren and listening to the river on the back porch. They also enjoyed collecting, restoring and selling antiques. 

To know Betty was to love her. She loved people, she loved making them happy while always ensuring they had plenty to eat and drink. You would never leave her house hungry! 

Betty will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, “Nanny,” sister, aunt and friend. 

Betty is survived by her son, Aaron Stickman and wife Kathy of Middletown, Virginia; her grandson, Ralph Aaron Stickman Jr. and wife Madeline of Winchester, Virginia; a granddaughter, Sara Faith Stickman Dawe and husband Brad of Middletown, Virginia; a great-grandson, Charlie Joseph Daniel Stickman; her brother-in-law, Stanley Hough of Williamsport, Maryland; and two sisters-in-law, JoyceAnn Sullivan of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Dorothy Clark of New Brighton, Minnesota; as well as many nieces and nephews. 

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Olander Stickman; her sister, Sara Hough; and her granddaughter, Brittani Leighann Stickman. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Rileyville Gospel Church. 

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Rileyville Gospel Church. She will be laid to rest at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery, Luray, Virgina. Officiant will be Pastor Donnie Lam of Rileyville Gospel Church. 

Pallbearers will be Mark Feaster, Michael Feaster, George “Buddy” Stickman, Michael Stickman, Wayne Stickman and Garland “Butch” Tincher. Honorary pallbearers will be Kelly Coffelt, John Finchum, Walter Kibler, Tim Rocke and Robert Stickman Jr.

We would like to thank Shenandoah Terrace of New Market for their care and love they provided over the last several years.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
