Bryant ends season with 3 TDs versus rival Page

LURAY, Nov. 8 — In the season finale last Friday night at Bulldog Field, Luray High School junior Cason Bryant rushed for 124 yards on only five carries – that’s 24.8 yards per carry. He broke loose for a 46-yard touchdown, twice; and found the end zone a total of three times.

Bryant combined with sophomore Ryan Jenkins to account for 243 of Luray’s 571 yards of offense, as six different Bulldogs scored touchdowns in a 68-7 rout of rival Page County.

Luray had the ball for less than 14 minutes during the game and only ran 28 plays on offense; compared to more than 32 minutes of possession by Page and a total of 52 plays from scrimmage. However, the Bulldogs turned the ball over four times, compared to only two Panther turnovers.

Both teams finished the season at 2-8.

The Region 2B playoffs begin this Friday night, with two undefeated teams at the top of the seedings — Bull Run champion Clarke County (10-0) and James River District champion Buckingham (10-0). Strasburg (9-1) and Riverheads (8-2) are the third and fourth seeds, respectively. Stuarts Draft (7-3), Fort Defiance (5-5), Central (4-6) and Madison (4-6) round out the field.
