LURAY, April 26 — The Luray High School boys cross country team took 7th place at the VHSL 2A cross country meet held at Green Hill Park in Salem last Thursday, April 22.
The Bulldogs entered the state meet as the Region B champions after claiming the title April 15 at the New Market Battlefield. Seniors Sam Liscomb and Philip Roy earned All-Region honors, along with sophomores Conner Janney and Brandon Shores.
Although Luray had hoped for a better finish in Salem, Coach Steve Printz still labels the season a success.
“Our team didn’t do as well as we had hoped, but we had a good day. We placed 7th as a team. We had three runners get their best time of the season,” Coach Printz said. “Our goal this season was to compete in the state meet and be one of the top teams in class 2A. I certainly think we did that as a team.”
Coach Printz was named the Region B Coach of the Year.
“I am so proud of this group for running the last eight months and training to get to this point. They are a great group and many leaders for our team and school,” Printz said. “They achieved so many things this year by putting in the work…many All-District runners, All-Region runners, and a region title, but their biggest success is in becoming a team.”
