October 4, 1962 — The Luray High Bulldogs played their first home game of the 1962 football season last Friday night at the VFW Stadium and gave their best performance to date with a 19-6 victory over the Stonewall Jackson Generals.
It was Luray’s first win of the season against two losses.
The Bulldogs took a 6-0 lead in the opening period on an off-tackle smash of two yards by Ronnie Nealis. The first half ended with Luray holding a 6-0 lead.
The Bulldogs got their second touchdown of the game in the third quarter on a 20-yard pass play, Jesse Shackelford to Ronnie Keyser.
Nealis scored the Bulldogs’ third touchdown and his second one of the game in the final period as he went off tackle from the Stonewall 10-yard line to score.
David Crist made the extra point on a run to make the final score 19-6.
