Age 70, Shenandoah, Va.
Carolyn Ann Newton, 70, of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2026 at her home. She was born August 2, 1955 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland and was the daughter of the late Frank and Joyce Graney.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, David Damron and her daughters, Christina Turner and Jennifer Graney.
Carolyn retired from Walmart after many years of service. She found joy in the simple things in life. She loved to crochet blankets and towels for her family and friends; they will be treasured for many years to come. Carolyn loved playing bingo and traveling with her sisters and brother when she could. She enjoyed singing karaoke with friends. Carolyn loved her family; especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Carolyn is survived by her long-time companion, Carlton “Jake” Comer; daughter, Sherry Monger and husband, Wes; sisters, Wanda Graney, Glenda “Harley” Lawson and husband, Jory, Linda Kite, Joyce Young; brothers, Frank Graney and companion, Kay, Joseph King and wife, Patti; grandchildren, Michael Graney and wife, Brittany, Marissa Monger, Tyler Monger, Timothy Roberts, David Damron, Jr. (DJ), Dakota Damron, James Denton, Rebeka Shook and Alexander Damron; great-grandchildren, Amiah Graney and Michael Graney Jr.
The family would also like to thank her sister, Wanda for the care and support she gave Carolyn while she was sick.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
