Darlene Frances Lawson Mitchell, 72, of Stanley, Virginia passed away Friday, August 7, 2026 at her home. She was born on October 11, 1953 in Canton, Ohio to the late Reginald and Zola Hedrick Lawson.
Darlene enjoyed a good game of bingo, cooking for her family, watching movies, canning, camping, planting, working in the garden and spending her days fishing. Darlene was a very strong woman. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She always tried to give her best advice and you could talk to her about anything. She did anything for anyone and was always very kind hearted. She loved her family deeply, as well as her dog, Molly and grand-dog, Bear.
She is survived by her loving husband, Allen Mitchell; son, Reginald Brooks and wife, Janice; daughters, Tami Liskey and husband, Dale, Sonia Mitchell; brother, Reginald Lawson, Jr. and wife, Teresa; sisters, Karen Breeden, Juanita Lawson, and Annette Morris and husband, Johnny; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton with Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kyger Funeral Home to help offset expenses.
