~ Report issued by Luray Fire Department
LURAY, Oct. 13 — On Thursday, at approximately 5 p.m., the Luray Volunteer Fire Department responded to call for a reported structure fire at the Dollar Tree in the East End Shopping Center.
Law enforcement reported smoke bellowing from the structure, with all occupants evacuated. Fire crews found an active blaze in the rear of the structure, with heavy smoke pushing through the shared attic space of PMH Fitness Center and Boost Mobile.
Firefighters quickly gained control of the fire, preventing the fire from spreading beyond the rear storage area of the Dollar Tree. Firefighters were on scene for approximately five-and-a-half hours for smoke and heat ejection from the neighboring businesses.
About 25 fireman responded to the scene with five pieces of apparatus. Luray Fire Department was assisted by Page County EMS, Luray Police Department, and Page County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation by the Luray Police Department.
