Age 79, Luray, Va.
Barry Allan Presgraves, 79, of Luray, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on April 3, 1943, in Luray and was a son of the late Ronald T. Presgraves and Beatrice Seal Presgraves.
Barry served on the Luray Town Council for four years and as Mayor for the Town of Luray for 12 years and had worked as Director of Concession Operations for 31 years for ARA VA Skyline Company. He was a past deacon at Beahm’s Chapel Church, was a Sunday school teacher, served on the Board of Directors for Page Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Page County Planning Commission. He was a member of the Rileyville Baptist Church for 30 years.
On April 21, 1988, he married Nancy J. Weakley Presgraves, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter Jackie Wilk and husband Dave, of Mooresville, NC, son, John Wayland and wife Julie of Sperryville, and daughter Regina Harner and husband Dale of Luray; two sisters, Janice Courtney of Stanley, and Wanda Weakley of Richmond; six grandchildren, Ava, Ashley, Emily, Rikki, Brooke and Nick; and three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Eloise and Regan, and another due in March.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas D. Presgraves; and five sisters, Loris Cubbage, Norma Breeden, Patsy Hilliard, and Lorraine Keyser.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 20, at the Rileyville Baptist Church by the Rev. Dan Ellis and Pastor Andy Seastrom. Burial will be private at the Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Luray Volunteer Fire Department, 1 Firehouse Lane, Luray, Va. 22835; Luray Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 266, Luray; or to the Rileyville Baptist Church in his memory.
