January 16, 1890 — Mr. Gideon Brubaker, one of the oldest citizens of the county, dropped dead at his residence on the river, near Long’s Mill, last Monday evening. The particulars of his sudden demise are as follows:
He had ridden to Leaksville that day about noon, and on returning home and putting up his horse, started toward the house, when he suddenly fell. Two of his sons were nearby at the time, but before they could reach him and carry him into the house life was extinct.
He was 83 years old, and up to the hour of his death was unusually active for one of his age. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, and leaves a large number of relatives and friends, who will hear with regret of his death.
