Edith Marie Wright Dovel

Edith Marie Wright Dovel

Age 63, Shenandoah, Va.

Edith Wright Dovel, age 63, passed away peacefully December 4, 2023. She was born July 13, 1960, in Harrisonburg, Virginia to Lowell and Ruth Morris Wright.

Edith was a kindhearted person who was devoted to her family and enjoyed the simple things in life. She liked nothing more than getting together over a home cooked meal enjoyed with family and friends, preferably with Alan Jackson or Keith Whitley playing on the radio. Edith loved animals and had too many cats, dogs, grand cats, and grand dogs to name. People knew when she was around because there was always laughter and perhaps a Walmart or two. She collected rooster items and purses and loved to drive the Skyline Drive, build fires, watch the sunset, wear funny socks, drink coffee (a lot of coffee), sit by the river, and talk on the phone.

She made delicious fried chicken, was a talented late night breakfast cook, and was most proud of her two sons. Always a hard worker, over her life she worked on the family farm, at Wrangler, Walker, and Emco, and her coworkers said, “She made work fun.” Her last days were spent resting while friends and family surrounded her to exchange stories and laughs.

Edith is survived by her parents Lowell and Ruth Wright, brother Ricky Wright, husband, Anthony, sons Randy and Daniel, daughters-in-law Kristen and Amber, father and mother-in-law, Randolph and Barbara Dovel, brother-in-law, Keith Dovel, nieces and nephews, Laura Morris, Nicholas Morris, Emily Payne, Dylan Dovel, and Heather Fite (Edith Jr.), and many other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Bobby Morris.
