Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Retzer

Elizabeth "Betty" Retzer

Stanley, Va.

In loving memory of Elizabeth Retzer, a cherished wife, mother, and adventurer whose spirit touched many lives.

Elizabeth “Betty” departed from this world on February 20, 2024, leaving a legacy of laughter and a mindset of “we shall endeavor to persevere.”

Elizabeth was destined to live a life of love, laughter, and adventure. She found her lifelong partner in Robert Retzer, and together, they embarked on a remarkable journey of 54 years of unbreakable love and unwavering devotion. She spent most of her life in her hometown of Little Falls, NJ, and, most recently, Stanley, Virginia. Their bond was a testament to the power of true love, resilience, and partnership.

Elizabeth had an insatiable thirst for adventure and a passion for exploration. From spontaneous road trips to breathtaking journeys to national parks, every adventure allowed her to embrace life fully. With Robert by her side, she fearlessly pursued new experiences, whether soaring high in a hot air balloon or discovering hidden gems at every point of interest they encountered.

Elizabeth will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Robert Retzer; her daughter, Jeanette Lucciola, and son-in-law John; her son, Peter Courter, and daughter-in-law, Nancy; and her sister, Dorothy Baronio and husband Ronald; and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though she may no longer walk beside us, her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us as we carry her memory in our hearts.

Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
