Age 90, Crimora, Va.
Elois Jean St. Clair, 90, of Crimora, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Hospice House of the Hospice of the Shenandoah.
Mrs. St. Clair was born on February 20, 1933, in Rockingham County and was a daughter of the late Charles Roy and Leona Pearl (Gibson) Rutherford. Jean worked as a seamstress for Valet Cleaners for many years. She later worked as an Inspector at SanCar. She enjoyed cooking and gardening. Jean was an avid lover of all animals, especially cats.
On July 12, 1959, she married Roy Cornelius St. Clair, who preceded her in death on January 9, 1997.
Mrs. St. Clair is survived by her children, Deborah Dickinson and husband, Marc of Wisconsin, Patricia Whetzel and husband, Johnny of Elkton, Beverly Breeden and husband, Marty of Crimora, Melinda St. Clair of Grottoes, and Donna Gooden of Elkton; nine grandchildren, Paul L. Gooden III, Roy Isaac Hottinger, Alyssa Ours, Bryan St. Clair, Amber St. Clair, Jonathan St. Clair, Brianna St. Clair, Jayme Dickinson, and Jon Dickinson; and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. St. Clair was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Paul L. Gooden Jr., and her siblings, Charles Rutherford, Frederick Rutherford, and Virginia Plume. Jean was the last surviving member of her family.
Honoring Jean’s wishes, her body will be cremated, and all services will be held privately by the family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to the Page County Animal Shelter, 1261 Goodrich Road, Stanley, VA 22851.
