Age 81, Rileyville, Va.
Eric Dewhirst, 79, of Rileyville, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester.
He was born on November 21, 1943, in England and a son of the late Eric Dewhirst and Mary Mount Dewhirst.
Eric was a member of Rileyville Baptist Church.
His first wife, Ursula Dewhirst, died in January 2000.
On December 26, 2018, he married Jean Christine Moore Dewhirst, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are four daughters, Miriam Hutchison of New Zealand, and Lydia Oliver, Ester Thompson and Hannah Orange, all of England; a son, Lukas Dewhirst of England; three stepsons, Paul, Steve and Tim Johnson, all of Luray; and a sister, Pamela.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy.
Eric and Jean shared 19 grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, at the Rileyville Baptist Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m.
