Wisteria Farm & Vineyard

Gala Friday night at Shenadoah Caverns’ Yellow Barn

STANLEY — Wisteria Farm & Vineyard, a small family-owned and operated vineyard nestled in the foothills of the Shenandoah mountains, entered four wines in this year’s Shenandoah Cup, a competition among premier winemakers in the Shenandoah Valley Wine Region. Similar to last year, each of Wisteria’s wine varieties entered for the prestigious 2024 competition won a medal.

Wisteria’s Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Persephone blend each won a silver medal in the 2024 Shenandoah Cup wine competition and Aphrodite, their Pét-nat (short for pétillant naturel, a form of sparkling wine that is fermented in the bottle), won a gold medal. This marks the first time in the vineyard’s 15-year history to win a gold medal in the coveted Shenandoah Cup competition.

This was the first year for entering their Petit Verdot, which received a silver medal. It is the 2nd silver earned for their Cab Franc, which won silver medals for the 2023 and 2024 competitions. And, winemaker Steve Wallace’s first-ever blend, Persephone–a dry rose blend–won a silver medal in each of the three competitions it was entered in for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Shenandoah Cup competitions.

This year’s Shenandoah Cup competition and medal-awarding gala will be held at the Yellow Barn private events venue at the Shenandoah Caverns, between New Market and Mt. Jackson, on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:30p.m. Tickets may be obtained by clicking here.
