April 16, 1992 — By an unanimous vote, Page County’s five school board members Tuesday night approved the controversial full-day kindergarten program for the 1992-93 school year.
The vote, which took less than a minute, ended more than a month of emotional public debate over the benefits of extending the current half-day kindergarten to six hours.
Many of the 275 people, including a large number of teachers, gathered for the meeting, applauded the board members’ decision.
