LURAY, Feb. 27 — There have been a myriad of heroes in the Luray Bulldogs’ exciting postseason run, from the buzzer-beater baskets of Matthew Owens, to the hard work in the paint by Jae Frye. However, no one over the past week has stepped up bigger in the postseason than sophomore Ayden Haddock coming off the bench to score a game-high 28 points at Buckingham in the Region 2B semifinals.

Haddock had 14 points, including a trio of triples, during a pivotal second quarter run. The sophomore finished the night with six shots from beyond the arc.

The Bulldogs scored 31 points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead that they never relinquished. The win guaranteed a spot in Tuesday’s state quarterfinal and propelled Luray into the Region 2B championship against Central, where they captured a second-straight region title on Saturday at Shenandoah University.

Throughout the region tournament, Haddock put up 36 points over three games.
