Age 96, formerly of Luray, Va.
Harry Eppley Hedlund, formerly of Luray, VA, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 at the age of 96.
Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Harry and Mildred (née Eppley) Hedlund.
Harry proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Following his military service, Harry built a long and dedicated career as a mechanic for United Airlines, where his skill, work ethic and reliability earned the respect of colleagues throughout his years of service.
Harry enjoyed watching sports (particularly, the Washington Redskins); loved reading; and taking summer vacations with his family in Ocean City, MD.
Harry was the beloved husband of Mary Jane (née Miller) Hedlund for 65 years and the loving father of Duane Eppley Hedlund.
Harry is also survived by Tara Roche Hedlund (daughter-in-law), Luke Eppley Hedlund (grandson), Kate Cassidy Hedlund (granddaughter) and Paige Garrity Hedlund (granddaughter).
Relatives and friends are invited to services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Luray, VA. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
Harry’s kindness, generosity and love for his family will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
