Age 91, Elkton, Va.
Hilda Pauline Ferrell Tappy, 91, a lifelong resident of Shenandoah, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at her granddaughter’s residence.
A daughter of the late Con and Mary Florence Merica Ferrell, she was born on June 20, 1932 in Shenandoah.
Hilda attended schools in Shenandoah and retired from Genie where she was employed for a number of years. She was also an honorary member of the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company and enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Rebecca Shenk (David Shenk), of McGaheysville and Jessica Tappy (Brandon Dyer), of Elkton; three great-grandchildren, Georgia Shenk, Levi Dyer and Benjamin Shenk; nieces and extended family.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph L. Tappy, Jr. and a daughter, Patti Ann Tappy Parks; brothers, Owen Ferrell and Wayne Ferrell; sisters, Helen Painter, Virginia “Jenny” Morris, Louise Royer, Nina Morris and Elsie Miller.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, June 18, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday morning at 11:00 am at Rest Haven Community Cemetery with David Shenk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company, 201 Pennsylvania Avenue, Shenandoah, VA, in her memory.
