Age 93, Shenandoah, Va.
Hilda Virginia Dovel Plum, 93, of Shenandoah, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023. Mrs. Plum was born March 8, 1930 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Ervin Lee and JoAnne Lam Dovel.
She was a longtime and faithful member of the St. Peters UMC near Elkton and enjoyed crocheting. She retired from Wrangler/Blue Bell in Shenandoah after 54 years of service.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Justin, Ernest and Robert Dovel, Hazel McAllister, Dorothy Wyant; a granddaughter, Christina Marshall; a son-in-law, Millard McAllister.
On February 12, 1949, she married Gene David Plum who died May 11, 1996.
She is survived by a son, Terry Plum and wife, Susan; a daughter, Cynthia McAllister; brothers, Isaac and Olen Dovel; sisters, Phyllis Slye; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will follow in the St. Peters Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
