Page County residents want and need greater access to affordable healthcare, including physical health, mental health, and services for treating substance abuse, according to extensive surveys conducted by the Virginia Health Department and Valley Health Hospital System.
Residents are now asking, “How will federal cuts to healthcare affect me, my family, and my friends? What are these cuts? And what can I do to prepare for them?”
That’s the subject of an upcoming panel discussion at the West Luray Recreational Center (aka “The Rec”) on Wednesday evening, October 15, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Community Works 4Page has organized the evening and is hosting three experienced panelists, including:
- Jeffrey Feit, Chief Medical Information Officer for Valley Health, who will explain the impact of the federal cuts on the hospital’s finances and its ability to serve County residents, including people on Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance
- Nicky Fadley, Executive Director of Strength in Peers, which provides services for treating substance abuse, including through a program for the Page County Sheriff’s Office. She will explain how federal cuts have impacted their programs.
- Dan Sullivan, with Enroll Virginia, a nonprofit program that helps residents get and keep coverage under Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and other healthcare sources. He will explain the hurdles and costs the new federal law imposes on children, parents, seniors (including those in nursing homes) and the disabled.
If you want to learn more about your access to healthcare, the new hurdles, and new costs you may face, please plan to attend the Community Works session.

Trump sent $20 billion to Argentina today to prop up their economy.
$20 billion added to our national debt.
Meanwhile in the Page economy our young people can’t afford rent.
Sounds fair.
I think we have to temporarily support Argentina now whether you like it or not. If Argentina falls, it will be worse for our farmers than Argentine sales of soybeans to China.
President Donald Trump said in a Truth Social post on Tuesday: “Highly Respected President of Argentina, Javier Milei, has proven to be a truly fantastic and powerful Leader for the Great People of Argentina, advancing on all levels at record speed. He inherited a “total mess” with horrible Inflation caused by the previous Radical Left President (much like Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the History our Nation), yet he has brought stability back to Argentina’s Economy, and lifted it to a new level of Prominence and Respect! We have had a tremendous relationship with Argentina, which has become a strong ally, thanks to President Milei.”
Why would it be worse our farmers? Let’s spend that $20-billion on citizens of the US.
I read Trump’s statement three times.
Lots of noise. No substance.
There’s not one reason in there for him to give $20B in taxpayer money to Argentina.
Other than he likes the guy.
Wish he liked the people in Page County living in RVs a little bit better.
I complainers complaining about cuts to healthcare. How about providers stop defrauding Medicare, etc.
