How PVN Works: Early success, survey results and special opportunities

By Randy Arrington, publisher

Each week in this column, we will talk about what’s going on with PageValleyNews.com — such as results from the previous weekly survey “Question of the Week” and special features we would like you to know more about.

First off — thank you!

PageValleyNews.com had a tremendous launch last week. In our first five days, we drew 4,712 visits and 16,218 page views. Comparing those figures to other independent community websites in the region, these are strong numbers — particularly for our first week — and we have you, our readers, to thank for that. We believe it speaks to both the need and demand for local news in the Page Valley.

Second — the majority of respondents to our weekly survey supported the designation of Page County as a Second Amendment sanctuary. The action taken by the Page County Board of Supervisors received a vote of 72 to 54 in favor — 55.8 percent of our respondents supported the action.

This week, let’s talk about opportunities.

PageValleyNews.com has several opportunities for local residents to get involved in our community website. We truly want to build a sense of community, and we want to do that by encouraging your participation.

If you have a public event that you would like for everyone to know about, publish it in our community calendar. You may enter them yourself into our calendar through our submission form, and we will approve them for publication in a timely fashion. Even if your event is months away, fill out our submission form now. We want the CALENDAR listings at PageValleyNews.com to become the “go to” place for community events. We hope community planners can use it as a tool to help prevent scheduling conflicts and help boost attendance by not competing with other popular events. And best of all — you can list these events for FREE!

If you have a job opening, please list it on PageValleyNews.com We want our site to become a beacon for jobseekers and a problem solver for employers. And best of all — all JOB LISTINGS are FREE!

If you have things to sell, buy or trade, then please consider our CLASSIFIEDS. We do charge a modest fee for listing classified items — $2.95 per week for individuals; $9.95 per week for businesses; and an additional $9.95 to make your listing FEATURED, where it will gain more exposure. These rates are below the current alternative in Page County, and they have a much greater reach and audience.

This is truly a community venture, and it will take the participation of the community to reach our true potential.

We encourage readers to complete our submission form for JOB LISTINGS and CLASSIFIEDS which can be found under the FEATURES tab and Events under the CALENDAR tab; and send us story ideas, photos, videos or suggestions for the site at the CONTACT US prompt on the HOME page, or you may email: publisher@pagevalleynews.com

You can find CLASSIFIEDS and JOB LISTINGS under the FEATURES heading on the Home page.
