James Allen “Bubby” Judd, 80, of Luray, Virginia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 14, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born July 2, 1945, in Luray, Virginia, to the late Cecil Judd and Ruth Waters Judd. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Allen Judd II.
James worked for 22 years at Avtex Fibers in Front Royal, Virginia. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his later years, fishing became his greatest passion. He loved spending time on the Shenandoah River, but his favorite place was Lake Anna, where he loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed playing cards with the guys on Sunday nights.
He was a proud member of the Luray Moose Lodge #1413, Shenandoah Valley Moose Legion #47, and the Northern Virginia Council of Higher Degree. His dedication to the Moose fraternity included earning the Fellowship Degree of Merit in 2016, membership in the 25/50 Club in 2007, and being named Moose of the Year from 2007–2008. He was a member of the Luray High School Class of 1963.
On September 5, 1992, he married the love of his life and soulmate, Teresa Judd, who survives. Together they shared nearly 40 wonderful years.
He is survived by his children, Tiffany (John) Judd-Alishauskas of Luray, James C. (Melissa) Judd of Winchester, Virginia, and Vickie (Tracy) Cromer of Christiansburg, Virginia; his grandchildren, Evelyn and James Alishauskas, Olivia and Aliza Judd, Kim (Wes) Widrig, and Chris (Decelaine) Cromer; and his great-granddaughter, Mya Gustafson.
He is also survived by his siblings, Judy (Richard) Koch, Brenda Richards, and Alesia (Donald) Painter, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 31, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Luray Moose Lodge #1413, 257 Dry Run Road, Luray, Virginia.
