James David ‘Jim/Jimmy’ Keyser

James David Keyser

Age 80, Middletown, Va.

James David “Jim/Jimmy” Keyser, 80, of Middletown, Va., passed away on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, after a battle with cancer. 

He was born on December 24, 1943, in Compton and was a son of the late James Madison Keyser and Lorraine Presgraves Keyser.

Jim was a retired VDOT Superintendent with many years of faithful employment. He owned and operated a sawmill and was a talented woodworker, making picnic tables, benches, bird houses, decorations, and cutting boards using many types of wood. Jim was also a successful day trader. Generous with his time, Jim was always willing to lend a helping hand and very willing to teach others his many skills.

His wife, Victoria Wright Keyser, passed away on November 25, 2021.

Jim is survived by five children, Carol Butler (Walter) and Julie Bernau (Alan) of Luray, Heather Campbell (David) of Middletown, Barry Keyser and Jeremy Keyser (Tabatha) of Luray and siblings Ron Keyser (Mary) of Luray, Nancy Keyser-Bryant (Vance Bryant) of Stanley, Betsy Munson (Steve) of White Post, a special friend, Peggy Shrimpton, five beloved grandchildren  (Logan, James, Makenna, Joy, and Joel), many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his siblings Bobby Keyser, Rick Loring Keyser, Evelyn Kegley, and Doris Engel.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Grace Methodist Church, 7882 Main St, Middletown, Va., followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 2 p.m. All are invited to share a meal afterwards at Dome Hill.
