Jimmy Dale Richards, 80, of Luray, passed away on Monday, January 22, 2024, at Skyview Springs Nursing and Rehab.
He was born on August 26, 1943, in Luray and was a son of the late Emmett Clark Richards and Frances Elizabeth Breeden Parlett.
Jimmy was a member of the Calvary Independent Brethren Church in Stanley.
On August 17, 1962, he married June Elizabeth Good Richards, who died on July 11, 2014.
Jimmy is survived by a son, James Dale Richards and wife Julie of Luray; a daughter, Angela Lucas and husband Danny of Stanley; two brothers, Richard Parlett of Stanley, and Alvin Parlett of Luray; a sister, Alice “Faye” Foster of Luray; four grandchildren, Madison Lucas, Nicholas Richards, Kellie Jenkins and Christopher Jenkins; and four great-grandchildren, Avery Richards, Robin Richards, Iris Jenkins and Claire Jenkins.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Hughes; four brothers, Julian Richards, Thomas Parlett, Roscoe Richards and Ronald Parlett; two sisters, Judy Parlett and Barbara Arbaugh; a daughter-in-law, Melissa Richards; and a son-in-law, Gary Hughes.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 26, at the Calvary Independent Brethren Church by the Rev. Charles Turner and Pastor Josh Parlett. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, at the church.
