Age 81, Rileyville, Va.
Joseph “Joe” Newton Alger, 81, of Rileyville, Va. passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Page Memorial Hospital in Luray, Va.
He was born on June 23, 1943 in Page County to the late Lewis Everett Alger and Lola Mable (Riley) Alger.
He is survived by a daughter, Katlin Alger of Rileyville, Va.; a son, Joseph Newton Alger, Jr. and wife Olivia of Bunker Hill, W.Va.; a brother, Bobby Lewis Alger of Rileyville, Va.; and a granddaughter, Evelynn Alger of Bunker Hill, W.Va.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert William Alger and J.R. Alger; and a sister, Lola “Sissy” Pritchett.
A funeral service will be held Saturday June 7, 2025 at 1 p.m at Rileyville Gospel Church with Pastor Donnie Lam officiating. Burial will follow in the Alger Family Cemetery with Military Honors by Comer Jones Post 621 of Luray.
The family will receive friends the night before at the church from 6 to 8 p.m.
Arrangements are being handled by The Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
