Junior Leon Roach, 85, of Shenandoah, went to be with the Lord on May 15, 2024. Junior was born on November 17, 1938 in Elkton, and was the son of the late Kelly Roach and Bessie Williams Roach.

Junior grew up and lived in Rockingham County and Baltimore, Md. He enlisted in the United States Army and served as a Private/Armor Crewman. During his service, he was trained and stationed in various places, such as South Carolina, Kentucky, and Germany, until he was honorably discharged in 1963.

After proudly serving his country, he returned to Rockingham County and married Linda Lou Sites, of Harrisonburg, on September 25, 1965. They were married 50 wonderful years until Linda’s passing in 2016. Together they had four children and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Junior was a hard-working provider for his family. Throughout the years, he worked at several places, but retired from Packaging Corporation of America after 30-plus years of dedication. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, watching NASCAR and the Dallas Cowboys, and hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed collecting knives and coins, and was an avid Trump supporter.

He was a dedicated husband and father who always put his family first. He cared for his wife for several years during her sickness, despite his own illnesses, and cared for his children and grandchildren through his final days.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warnie Roach, a son-in-law, Mark “Bubba” Bryant, a granddaughter, Tawnie Clark, and other special family members. He is survived by 4 children, Jennifer Roach, Alan Roach (Manuela), and Stephanie Bryant, all of Page County, and Sheila McDaniel (Brian) of Stanardsville. He left behind 3 grandchildren, Travis (Ryan), Monica (Spencer), and Hannah (Matt), 7 great grandchildren, Skylar, Tasia, Maddoxx, Charlee, Parker, Kayson, and Gabriel; great-great-grandson, Jayvin. Additionally, he is survived by 5 sisters, Margie Lam, Joann Shifflett (Elwood), Lois Shifflett (Leon), Maxine Mowbray, and June Shifflett (Herbert), his 3 brothers, Freddie (Joanne), Buddy (Betty), and Gerry, and a special sister-in-law, Betty Roach.

The family will accept visitors at the Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church in Shenandoah on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the church on Monday, May 20, 2024 at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jimmy Kite officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg. Visitors are welcome anytime at the home of Junior and Linda Roach.

The family would like to thank the Hahn Cancer Center for all of their kindness and dedication to Junior over the years, as well as the Shenandoah / Page County EMT and Police Department for all of their hard work and support during Junior’s last moments.
