Kenneth Bud Gene Maytum, a devoted husband, proud Marine, and cherished father and grandfather, passed away on March 28, 2024 at the age of 89, surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Janice Maytum.
Bud was born on February 16, 1935 to Charles and Zona Maytum in Buffalo, N.Y. From a young age, he displayed a remarkable sense of duty and honor, qualities that would define his life.
He received his high school equivalency in the United States Marine Corps, where he served with distinction from 1952 to 1955. His dedication to his country was unwavering.
In 1956, Bud met the love of his life, Janice Breeden, and their bond was unbreakable. Together, they built a life filled with love, loyalty and countless cherished memories. Bud and Janice were inseparable partners, supporting each other through life’s joys and challenges with unwavering devotion.
Outside of his military service, he was an auto body specialist, truck driver and even a cowboy. Bud was always a devoted family man and a wonderful provider. He was a loving father to Karen Murray, Sandy Ehmke, Chuck Maytum, Gary Maytum of California, and Donna Bent of Tennessee. He’s also a grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He took great pride in his family and cherished every moment spent with them.
Bud will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Though he may be gone, his legacy of love and courage will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
There will be no service held at this time; however, a memorial to honor his life will be held at a later date in California.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospitals in Bud’s memory.
