Age 79, Luray, Va.
Larry Randolph Knight, 79, of Luray, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2026.
He was born on November 7, 1946, in Stanley and was a son of the late George Washington Knight and Iva Mae Blosser Knight.
On April 2, 1982, he married Cynthia Breeden Knight, who survives.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by a brother, Douglas Knight of Stanley; and his devoted canine, Tucker. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Knight and Darrell Junior Knight Sr.; and two sisters, Wanda Jean Knight and Eva Mae Pence.
Larry worked for Masonite Corporation as a supervisor, retiring with 40 years of service.
Larry was always involved in sports, playing basketball in a barn at the age of 14 with his lifetime friend, Jerry Hoak, and through high school playing basketball and baseball.
As an adult, softball was a big part of his life, always playing with a team locally or traveling to compete in regional and state tournaments.
In 1982, Larry and his brother, Doug, opened Mt. View Parks in Stanley. Tournaments were held on weekends with teams from local counties. These tournaments were a popular time for teams to socialize or play a game of cards under the trees.
Larry would comment: “It’s not about the game, but the friends you make along the way.” And there were many. One very special dedicated friend, Eric Miller, visited and called regularly during his illness.
Larry also enjoyed bowling and a good card game with friends to laugh and enjoy a good time. Vacations meant a lot to Larry. It didn’t matter whether they were a week or just a day, he enjoyed getting away.
Larry’s love of sports also included organizing benefits for those in need. His last project was planning a baseball reunion in 2023-2024 with a great turnout. He was pleased to see so many old friends gather and share their memories.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, at the Stanley New Hope Pentecostal Church.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 30, at the church by Pastor Randy Miller. Burial will be in the Graves Chapel Cemetery in Stanley.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
