Leonard Earl “Ben” Comer, 80, of Shenandoah, died on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021, at Winchester Medical Center.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1940, in Shenandoah and was a son of the late Howard H. Comer and Lula A. Cave Comer.
Mr. Comer retired from Avtex in 1989, after which he worked at the Senate Office building in Washington, D.C., retiring in 1996.
On Feb. 18, 1961, he married Annie Elizabeth Knott Comer, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Gary Comer of Shenandoah, Leonard Comer Jr. and Timmy Comer; a sister, Mary Ellen Dean of Shenandoah; three brothers, Robert “Peanut,” K. Roland and James “Pete” Comer, all of Shenandoah; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ikey and Leroy “Ross “Comer; and two sisters, Betty Emrick and Margaret Davis.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at the Bradley Funeral Home by Pastor Ellen Martin. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery in Luray.
