STANLEY — The Town of Stanley’s Recreation Department is still looking to fill lifeguard slots at Hawksbill Pool for the upcoming season, which begins next month on Memorial Day weekend.
With three lifeguards coming back from last season and one new certified lifeguard signed up, three or four slots still remain to be filled to ensure that the Hawksbill Pool is adequately staffed with certified lifeguards and covered throughout the season, which runs through Labor Day weekend.
Town Manager Terry Pettit said that the Town will pay $12 per hour for lifeguards and will provide the training and certification needed.
During the 2022 swim season — Memorial Day through Labor Day — the Hawksbill Pool drew 7,425 swimmers. The Stanley Stingrays enjoyed another successful season with around 60 swimmers, and the facility at Hawksbill Park hosted five Night Swims and three Movie Nights, as well as 42 pool parties, with visitors from 19 states.
Those interested in being a lifeguard at Hawksbill Pool this summer can drop by Town Hall for an application on Main Street, or call (540) 778-3454.
