May 27, 1961 — The home of Mr. and Mrs. James Lawson of Stanley was considerably damaged at 3:15 Tuesday morning of this week when lightning struck the television antenna anchored to the chimney on the Lawson house. Fortunately the house did not catch fire although doors were splintered, windows broken and other extensive damage was done by the lightning.
