My definition of a patriot

Letter

Are you against :

Assault of police officers?

Assault that leads to death or disability of a person?

Vandalism of public or private property?

Workplace violence resulting in lockdowns?

Trespassing?

So am I.

Mr. Trump plans to pardon the people who did these things on January 6, 2021. He refers to them as patriots.

I do not.

  1. So, One can assume you are going to vote for, the original version (which is what you are going to get) not the latest flip flopped one. Defunding the Police, Higher taxes, Unrealistic Environmental goals, Unchecked immigration, The burning and taking over of major metro areas, Abandoning our Allies and appeasing our enemies and controlling every aspect of your life down to the appliances in your house. All I can say is “Bless Your Heart”.

  2. Ms Gordon. Here are some additional bullet points for your list:

Incompetent federal law enforcement at the capitol building and Trump’s rally. And everywhere else. Then lying about what happened.

Shooting and killing unarmed civilians, e.g. Ashley Babbitt.

A Department of “Justice” that blames others for that which it is doing, e.g. election interference. Include also, various CIA and DHS officials.

    • They should have shot every damn one of them beating and macing the police and dragging them into the crowd. They should have shot every one smashing windows and doors of our Capitol and climbing the walls like animals. I don’t care the politics or motivations of the criminals – this behavior must never stand. And the former President of the United should be ashamed of himself for not standing up for what is right and true.

  3. Would like to point out that it is the GOP, not the Democratic Party, that calls for defunding the police (check the federal appropriations over the past several years, both proposed by the House and final cuts) and abandoning allies, such as Ukraine. Further, illegal border crossings are down, despite the fact that the Republican nominee for President duped his followers in Congress to defeat bipartisan legislation that could have made an even bigger difference.

  4. Mr Gould. Your comment is something of a red herring but I’ll bite. You must be referring to the failed “border bill”. Yes it had all kinds of goodies in it but it would have made illegal immigration worse and made it difficult for any future president to change that law. Biden has always had the authority to secure the border, but on “day one” he rescinded all of Trump’s orders that were working. Recently, Biden was told to tighten up the border because an election is near, so illegal immigration has dropped off. How do you like Springfield, Ohio now? That could be Page County very easily.

    • Yes, Springfield, OH, where immigrants eat pets . Talk about a red herring! As for the border bill, it was a bipartisan package negotiated over a long period of time, and while you claim that Biden worked to fix the border when the election was near, you ignore the reality that Trump instructed his people to defeat the bill because he couldn’t have some kind of success while … wait for it … the election was near. Lovely too how you blame the January 6 attack on the Capitol on federal law enforcement and not the actual perpetrators of the crimes there. Guys like you talk a big game about “back the blue” but seem awfully quick to abandon those principles when you’re supporting domestic terrorists.

  5. The border bill you speak of would have codified illegal immigration forever. Trump also made the bill croak regarding Ukraine because he wants Europe to foot the bills instead of the US most of the time. Where did I blame federal law enforcement for the J6 attack? But I would blame the J6 Commission for destroying all the evidence.

    • The “incompetent” comment seemed like blame to me – ie, if only they did their jobs, it wouldn’t have happened. And then saying that they lied about it. Also, referencing the fact that an intruder was shot and ignoring the injuries to law enforcement also says a lot. Just not feeling the love for law enforcement there.

As for Ukraine, I would say that Trump opposes aid to Ukraine because he favors Putin – that footing the bill argue is just a cloak. As recently as this week, he won’t even say he wants Ukraine to win the war against his friend Putin.

  6. “Chris” and Christopher. Better this time. No additional strawman arguments like claiming I said anything about pets being eaten by Haitians. The citizens there have bigger problems with them than that. And that FLE caused J6. You’re like Dick Cheney shooting at the wrong thing, except you’re shooting at two things that don’t exist. J6 was a protest that turned into a riot. Like BLM torching cities. Don’t worry, crimes were committed. And Pelosi was part of the incompetence in how it was managed.

  7. Glad we at least agree that Trump was spreading a lie about immigrants eating pets the other day. Unfortunately, Trump’s still repeating that lie and so many more. Don’t agree with you that January 6 was just a protest turned into a riot. Didn’t look like that to me.

  8. Good for you!
It’s important to read and understand things for yourself, from multiple sources that don’t have lawsuits or settlements for putting lies about voting machines on the air.
I look forward to a time where civil engagement is civil again, and not full of violence or threats of violence.
I think it would do the people on the right, especially those who support trump, to actually look into Russia and the propaganda campaign they’ve been doing with influencers on the right.
These people claim to be the party of Reagan, but he was never on to cower and fawn over Russia in his day!!!

  9. Needs context, but OK. Plus, it’s a great distraction for the Trump campaign to tout, because it draws on two major stands for him: fear and hatred of immigrants and trans people. If that floats your boat, cool – but I don’t think it trumps the disturbing implications of Trump’s admiration and of tyrants and, related, his support for those who would work to supplant our democracy, like the January 6th insurrectionists.

  10. https://nypost.com/2024/09/14/us-news/why-ohio-man-in-viral-photo-was-holding-two-geese/?utm_campaign=iphone_nyp&utm_source=pasteboard_app

No evidence doesn’t mean they didn’t become food or that they were hit by a car. Especially since nobody asked questions at the time. There’s no evidence anywhere that I took a box out of my car this morning. But I did.
BTW I’m glad you agree that Harris’s economic plan to reduce inflation is inferior to Trump’s.

  11. More distractions. Unfortunately, this ridiculous kind of rhetoric is causing bomb threats and hatred towards a population of LEGAL Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio.

  12. It’s funny how this stuff always veers off from the real issues , of higher taxes, the recent history of inflation, price of fuel, more crushing regulations, war on fossil fuels in general, unchecked immigration, tolerating violence and anarchy across the country. No Thanks Democrats, you have gone too far to the left and forgot about mainstream America

    • It’s interesting that the list of “real issues” includes a charge that Democrats stand for “tolerating violence and anarchy across the country” in reaction to a letter recounting the violent actions of Trump supporters at the US Capitol determined to overturn the election results. I’ll also note that the Republicans in Congress, not Democrats, have consistently called for cuts to federal law enforcement funds over the last several years, and a huge part of that funding are grants to state and local law enforcement.
