Shout out to Luray Police for job well done

Miles Morimoto letter July 22, 2024

The Luray Police Department deserves recognition for their swift resolution of a recent incident involving criminal trespass and property destruction on Main Street.

Last Sunday, July 21, early in the morning, perpetrators vandalized a Biden/Harris sign, captured on surveillance video near the Town of Luray building, the most heavily-monitored area in Page County. Promptly informed, the police efficiently identified, located, and arrested the suspects within hours.

The offenders, identified as two white males from Texas driving a truck adorned with Trump bumper stickers, appeared to feel justified in their actions. Upon their arrest, they confessed, but pleaded against criminal charges.

Property owner Susan Corbett opted for a restorative approach, requiring them to apologize, replace the damaged sign, pose for a picture of them with the restored sign, and make a donation to the Luray Police Department instead of facing legal consequences.

It seems the perpetrators underestimated local law enforcement, perhaps assuming immunity due to their out-of-state origins. However, their misconception was corrected when the Luray Police intercepted them before they could return to Texas, defying the notion described in Jason Alien’s song “Not in my small town”.

This incident serves as a poignant reminder that respecting law and order means taking personal responsibility, rather than blaming illegal immigrants and committing crimes under the false belief of impunity, righteousness and entitlement.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Luray Police Department for swiftly resolving this matter and ensuring justice prevailed.

    1. On 26 Apr 2020, my cameras caught a Democrat stealing a Trump 2020 sign off my property. I reported it to the county police and gave them a handwritten Antifa message that the Democrat left behind for me. The police were able to get fingerprints off of it, (plus mine). I also got a picture of his vehicle. Everything is on video. So far, the Democrat has been able to evade justice, but I believe the Statute of Limitations has passed. I know he was a Democrat because he was wearing a blue t-shirt with “NH United” on it. The Democrat’s picture is on the Sheriff’s website.

    2. So let me get this strait ,first Susan Corbett brakes the law herself by trespassing on the railroad property and actually putting the sign in the ground not temporary on that plot beside the tracks ,the town knew it was illegal and trespassing and did nothing till the public filed complaints ,then it was removed, maybe the railrod should have embarrassed her and charged her with trespassing, the political sign across from the town office is an embarrassment to the town ,I thought luray was for shopping and dinning and tourism…!!!!!

      • Jason, we had to look at GOP signs covering the windows of crumbling Uncle Bucks for several years. I heard the owner lived in there too with his young kid. What are you doing about this as City Coucilman? Let’s make Luray great again.

        • First of all your not commenting to a city councilman ,and same time their were gop signs covering windows their were ‘donkey’ signs on windows too , AND HAVE BEEN,for the last 4 years ,luray was just as great before we had people coming here buying up property on main st and donating to the Democratic parties and police department just so they can get ”tax breaks ”put up their signs right in front of the town office because they know they will defend them and their sign ,do you own a home in Page county or luray ,have you looked up how much the county has your property assessed at,I bet it went UP!!
Then look up some of the properties owned by certain people down In the area where the sign is ,,,the assessed value of these properties went down for some reason . Oooo maybe someone added wrong !!! The theater owned by someone else across the street value jumped up almost 100,000, he must not have donated,
Like I said it’s an embarrassment to the people of the town of luray and luray and the United States will be great again come November

          • Looked at the Republican Party HQ a few blocks up the hill. Not embarrassed. Scanned the Democrat Party HQ. Still not embarrassed. Remembered when the GOP was where the Democrats are now. Not a hint of chagrin. What upsets you about democracy?

      • SHAME ON YOU for taking a councilman’s ID and creating a fake account using his name! Councilman Pettit would NEVER post anything like this! You should be censored for making public comments on this site, if you’re too cowardly to use your own name. And PS : learn how to use spellcheck, since your grammar and spelling skills give you away.

    3. The sign is sitting on Town / police property not private property, it’s almost on the sidewalk, set there on purpose in front of cameras ,I think the whole thing was a setup, trying to catch a local that complained ,,very sad that someone trying to divide a town right in front of everyones eyes

    4. You “required” them to take a photo in front of a sign wearing sunglasses and hats to disguise who they are? And they had to make a donation to the local Trump-loving police department? Suckers. The criminals won.

      • And Tox Spews will be finding this story and inviting them on Tox and Foes next week so they can brag about what they did.

    5. If the democrats hadn’t stolen the 2020 election, we wouldn’t have had to experience all these Biden disasters.

    6. Censored, you mean suppressed? deleted? Controlled?sounds like something Rachel Maddow!I’m sorry you haven’t met the other 95 percent of the county yet ,maybe it has something to do with the big blue trap sitting down on main street,me and some buddies that have lived here in the county all our life were just discussing how the theater went from 613,700 up to 717,800,and across the street mamas treasure went from 314,400 DOWN to 289,200,I’m sorry if someone thinks I commented on this to teach a spelling class

    7. You’re blaming Democrats for corruption in Page County government?
Democrats don’t have enough power in this County to fix a parking ticket.
The GOP has owned every aspect of County government for 100 years.
Every time something sketchy has happened there have been 5 Republicans on the Board of Supervisors.
      Get real.

    8. I am real buddy,And the picture in this article wasn’t taken up in front of the county office building
And while I got everyone’s attention I’d like to give a shout out to Joey Sours and Jason Pettit, the only 2 councilmen that stopped the rest of the great ELECTED council members from the 2.3 cent tax increase they were trying to throw on us at the same time ,their president had our gas at 5 dollars a gallon and 6 dollars for 12 eggs. Not too hard to see who’s good and who’s not when you’ve lived here all your life and it’s written on paper

      • All the board of supervisors are Republicans. Always have been. They’ve made every bad decision that continues to hurt this county because of unpaid debt. A new landfill. Building two high schools. Project Clover.

Angry that outsiders are investing in Luray’s downtown? I don’t see locals investing a dime in their own community. Buildings allowed to rot for decades. It’s sad there’s no pride.

Oh yeah, that generational self-hate, low esteem, and lack of motivation is the democrats fault.

    9. Again the picture in this article wasn’t taken in front of the new county administration building ,and it’s not hard to see that most of the buildings on main street that are owned by outsiders are falling apart and it’s an embarrassment to the town of luray along with that big blue trap down on main street that only snarred 2 brave guys from Texas
No self hate here buddy ,and definitely no low esteem, and I’m motivated more and more the closer we get to November knowing we will go back to the RED

    10. Like I said the picture in this article wasn’t taken up in front of the COUNTY office building ,and not all Republicans are true republicans just like your real

name isn’t -OhBoy and they are influenced with bribes by others with money or want a contract ,that’s a whole different story ,up on that hill
I’m sure their would be a lot of
locals that would love to own and
run a business in luray if they
could afford to compete with the
realtors raising the prices and the
      government raising the taxes and
the rich people their trying to
get to come here just so they can
      get their money
So you’re trying to say IBR corporation does nothing for the town or the community huh I think
alot of locals would call you out
on that buddy and I could drive
around luray and show you many
dumps owned by outsiders that don’t
      even live here ,it’s an
embarrassment to the town of luray
just like the big blue trap down on
main street that only snarred 2
      brave guys from Texas
Theirs no self hate here buddy ,and definitely no low esteem and I get motivated more and more every day the closer we get to November and getting back to the RED
