Age 99, Luray, Va.
Nora Juanita Grube, 99 years old, of Luray, died on August 15, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Grube was born on December 7, 1922, in Punxsutawney, Pa., and was the daughter of the late Charles and Clara Belle (McCarty) Stiver.
Nora was married to Harland Grube, who preceded her in death on April 14, 2007. Nora loved all things related to her family, nature, and especially her birds. She worked for many years at Punxsutawney hospital as a waivered LPN. She made many wonderful friends in her career and enjoyed caring for her patients.
Nora, also affectionately known as Mother, Grandma, Great Ma, and Aunt Jaunita, will always be remembered and treasured by her family. She was the matriarch and took special lengths to always tell each of them how much she loved them. From baking cookies or making custard, to cooking holiday meals and always knowing the right thing to say when offering support, the hole left by Nora will be tremendous.
Nora is survived by her loving daughter, Penny Hollabaugh and husband, Ted, of Luray, Virginia; her grandchildren Jeffrey Hollabaugh and wife Lucia, of Montclair, Virginia, and Todd Hollabaugh and his wife, Brandy, of Luray, Virginia. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Brooke Hollabaugh, Shelby Hollabaugh, Ted W. Hollabaugh, Jeffrey R. Hollabaugh, and Jacob Hollabaugh; many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins with whom she shared wonderful relationships; and special friends Billie Robertson and Deborah Forrest.
Nora was preceded in death by her brothers Wilmer Stiver, John Stiver, and Edward Stiver.
A celebration of Nora’s life will be held on August 27, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg, Va., with Pastor Andrew Sagayam officiating.
A special thank you to everyone at Sentara Hospice, especially nurse Erica and chaplain Andrew, for outstanding care and support; and to a wonderful group of caregivers from Golden Years Caregiving. Thank you all for your loving care.
