December 16, 1965 — The Page County Panthers defeated the Stonewall Jackson Generals in a District 10 basketball game last Friday night at Mount Jackson by a score of 71- 49.
Jerry Hoak and Gary Brown scored 41 points between them to pace Page County’s scoring attack. Hoak made 22 points and Brown 19.
Guy Ferrell had 10 points to give the Panthers three players in double figures.
Joe Hoover was Stonewall Jackson’s leading scorer in the game with 16 points.
Each team scored 10 points in the opening period with the Generals holding a one-point lead in the early minutes of the game.
The Panthers stepped up the pace with 20 points in the second quarter and led at half-time, 30-20.
The victory was the second in three starts for Page County under new coach Buddy Comer.
