Pettit wins three events, breaks school record in 110 meter hurdles

LURAY, April 10 — The Panthers of Page County High School swept the regional competition at the Page Valley Invitational by claiming both the boys and girls team titles at Bulldog Field last week. The boys racked up 134 points, while the girls earned 123 points. The Panthers set a total of 30 season or all-time personal records on April 10.

PCHS junior Braxton Pettit set a new school record in the 110 meter hurdles, as he won the event in 14.26 seconds. Pettit also won the 100 meter dash (11.21 sec – state qualifying time) and the 300 meter hurdles (41.06 sec – state qualifying time). The junior tack phenom also placed second in the triple jump (37′, 10″) and third in the long jump (19-0.5 feet). Pettit earned a total of 44 points to claim Top Scorer of the 2026 Page Valley Invitational.

PCHS senior Aaron Hensley won the 3200 meter run (10:24.75) and then posted a state-qualifying, personal record time of 4:34.4 to claim second in the 1600 meter run.

PCHS senior Asher Kite won the 800 meter run (2:17.66) and placed fourth in the 400 meter dash (53.46 seconds) and the high jump (5′,8″).

PCHS junior Jaxon Staples finished third in the 3200 meter run (12:14.5) and fourth in the 1600 meter run (5:09.46).

PCHS junior Nate Holloway won the shot put with a state-qualifying distance of 48′,8″ and took second in the discus (116′,7″). Sophomore Logan Richards and senior Destin Wolfe finished third and fourth, respectively, in the discus with distances of 101’5″ and 100′, 2″.

Host school Luray posted two event winners on the boys side — the 4×100 relay team, and junior Azmani Jackson in the 200 meter dash (23.21 sec). Jackson also finished third in the 100 meter dash (11.44 sec). LHS sophomore Daniel Frey finished third in the 300 meter hurdles (41.94 sec) and fourth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.84 sec).

In the girls division, PCHS junior Averie Green lead the Panthers to the title with 32.5 individual points to earn Top Scorer status. Green won the 100 meter dash (13.11 sec), the 200 meter dash (27.66 sec), and the high jump (4′,6″).

Other Page County event winners include the girls 4×100 relay team (52.33 sec), freshman Kaylee Holbert won the 3200 meter run (15:04.52), and junior Aubrianna “Bri” Bracken won the triple jump (29′, 2.5″).

PCHS junior Adi Caton finished second in the 100 meter dash (13.49 sec), 3rd in the 200 meter dash (28.76 sec), and second in the long jump (15′, 0.25″).

PCHS freshman Brenna McKay finished second in the triple jump (27′, 11″), third in the long jump (14′, 6.25″), and third in the 100 meter dash (13.72 sec).

PCHS sophomore Angel Crider finished third in the 100 meter hurdles (23.1 sec) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (30.57 sec).

Host school Luray posted three event winners on the girls side — the 4×800 relay team (11:16.62), freshman Brylee Painter won the 800 meter run (2:41.27), and junior Kristina McLain won the 100 meter hurdles (18.18 sec). Painter also placed fourth in the long jump (13′, 8″), while McLain placed fourth in the 100 meter dash (13.84 sec). The 4×100 relay team finished second (56.38 sec).

Other top LHS winners include — senior Briana Plum finished second in the 800 meter run (2:45.89); junior Maya Jenkins finished third in the 800 meter run (2:48.47), and sophomore Zoe Vaughn finished second in the 100 meter hurdles (18.23 sec). Vaughn also took fifth in the 100 meter dash (13.98 sec).

Upcoming tack meets include Stonewall Jackson’s Invitational at New Market on Wednesday, April 15, and an invitational at Rocktown High School on Saturday, April 18.
