LURAY — The Town‘s paving contractor (Kick.in’ Asphalt) will begin milling and resurfacing work on Thursday, Aug. 12 with the work planned to be completed by Aug. 25 (weather permitting).
Please be alert for the short-term traffic interruptions and lane closures that may affect driving and parking in these areas. Intermittent flagging operations will occur. One lane, two-way traffic will be maintained by the contractor.
Detour will be provided by the VDOT/town contractor when the Route 211 interchange ramps are closed. Detour will be Mechanic Street to North Hawksbill Street to Route 211. Dust, noise, traffic delays and altered travel ways will likely occur.
Work is slated for 7 a.m. through 9 p.m. weekdays.
Please be aware of this planned work and adjust your travel accordingly.
Milling and paving are planned for several sections of Main Street (Route 211 Business) and North Broad Street (Route 340):
August 12 – 16
East Main Street – Westbound Lanes – Wallace Avenue to Town limits
East Main Street – All Lanes – Firehouse Lane to Broad Street
West Main Street – All Lanes – Hawksbill Street to Jordan Street
August 17 – 25
North Broad Street – All Lanes – Hillhouse Lane to Town Limits
