SHENANDOAH, June 29 — For the second time in the last four months, officials in the Town of Shenandoah are celebrating the opening of a new business along First Street.

On Tuesday evening, a crowd of more than 30 gathered in front of the remodeled space that is now home to Peep Show Esthetics, a beauty shop specializing in lash extensions, waxing, Hyaluron pen, spray tans, lip filling, brow tinting, brow lamination and henna brows.

“We support new business any way we can,” Mayor Clinton O. Lucas Jr. said prior to Tuesday’s ribbon cutting. “This crowd shows Jessica has a lot of support and that means a lot to a new business. She has a lot of clients lined up and we hope that continues. We will do everything we can to get behind you.”

Owner Jessica Good earned an esthetician license from the Richmond-based Institute of Advanced Medical Esthetics in 2019. Good gained two years of experience while working at the chain-store European Wax Center in Charlottesville. Now, she plans to bring some of her Charlottesville clients to Shenandoah, along with a list of local clients.

“I was basically working 40 hours a week and not getting the return on my time that I wanted. So, I wanted to branch out on my own and do everything that I’m trained for,” Good said on Tuesday. “It was scary at first, but it has really taken off.”

The 2014 graduate of Page County High School plans to add a former Charlottesville co-worker to her staff in July. Autumn Artale, who still lives in Charlottesville, will travel to Shenandoah once a week to offer her skills to Peep Show’s clients from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Anyone wanting to make an appointment with Jessica will have to wait — she’s already booked into August. Good said she has clients all across the region from places like Front Royal, to those willing to travel further from places like Washington, D.C. and West Virginia.

“We’re very appreciative of the investment in Shenandoah,” Town Manager Juanita Roudabush said following Tuesday’s ribbon cutting. “We’re so glad she decided to come here and not go somewhere else.”

In early March, Shenandoah marked the opening of Jade & Grace Co., a full-service hair salon located just two doors down from Peep Show. The salon has already added a chair and a stylist since opening. The town manager believes Shenandoah’s two newest businesses will compliment one another.

“These two businesses provide services that are companion businesses,” Roudabush said. “They will play off each other, and they are two cool spaces.”

Both beauty-based businesses are currently booked through August.

Peep Show Esthetics is located at 422 First Street, Shenandoah and is open seven days a week by appointment only. To make an appointment or get more information, call (407) 335-7378 or check out their Facebook page.
