Peggy “Shorty” Sue Dinges, 68, of Luray, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
She was born on February 24, 1958, in Virginia and was a daughter of the late Herman and Marie Dinges.
Shorty had worked at Subway. She had an exuberant personality with a love of Halloween. This holiday gave her the most joy, offering a chance to prank her friends and family. She was spunky, sometimes hard-headed, and quick-witted — always ready for a sly comment.
She is survived by a daughter, Brandy Miller and husband Mickey; a son, Chauncey Dinges; a stepson, Colton Wayne Smith; four sisters, Frances Tusing and husband Mose, Barbara Steeves and husband Stan, Debbie Clark and husband Wallace, and Betty Davis; two brothers, David Dinges, and John Dinges and wife Nancy; one sister-in-law, Lois Dinges; four grandchildren, Brandon Miller and wife Destiny, Mikkayla Miller and husband Johnny, Colt Miller and wife Lacey, and Joseph Beers; one step granddaughter, Kohan Smith; six great-grandchildren, Paisley, Corey, Fynnlee, Weston, Saylor and Reagan; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Christina Beers.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Dinges; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Dinges.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Page County SPCA for her love of animals.
Arrangements are being handled by the Bradley Funeral Home in Luray, Va.
