Pen up the cows

Luray Main St old

June 16, 1887 — We have a beautiful town, but it would be prettier if the cows were not allowed to range at will over the streets, depredating upon private gardens, shade trees, and everything else within their reach.

The Council should adopt at once an ordinance prohibiting them from running at large either in the day or night time.

It is a relic of the deadest kind of old fogyism that allows the public thoroughfares of Luray to be used as a cattle range, and the sooner it is stopped the better it will be for the health and decency of the town.
