August 20, 1983 — “Blair’s Baby Doll,” a 7-year-old registered Tennessee Walker, owned by Cecil and Donna Comer of the Comertown section of Page County, died a tragic death Aug. 17. Prize-winning ribbons, fond memories and a lonely stable are all that remain.
“Baby Doll”, a handsome black mare with a mark of white on her temple, who not only charmed her owners but also was the pride and joy of the entire neighborhood, was shot to death last Wednesday afternoon in her stable.
The Comers say that they did not know how popular their horse was until sympathies started pouring in from other stables. Neighbors are shocked and children are still looking for the animal they loved so well.
