Ralph Lewis Mowry Jr.

Age 75, Shenandoah, Va.

Ralph Lewis Mowry Jr., age 75, went to be with his Lord peacefully in his home with his beloved wife, Tammy Mowry, by his side on December 29, 2023. He was born February, 22, 1948 in Staunton, Virginia. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Virginia White Mowry and father, Ralph Lewis Mowry Sr. of Staunton. In the 75 years that Ralph spent on this earth, he was many things. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a dad, an uncle, a grandfather, and a friend. 

He enjoyed camping, working on his family’s farm, and showing his family he could fix anything. He loved fellowship with his church family and was a youth pastor for many years. He was known for his integrity, patience, kindness, and devotion. He spent over 30 years as Superintendent of VDOT in Luray, Virginia and was an active member of his church, Open Arms Fellowship in Elkton, Virginia. 

He is survived in death by his wife of nearly 38 years, Tammy Sue Knight Mowry of Shenandoah; two daughters, Denise Renee Mowry and Jennifer Lynn Mowry of Charlottesville; his son, Jacob Lewis Mowry and partner, Travis McCoy, of Luray along with six grandchildren. He has two brothers, Randolph and William Mowry. 

A graveside service will be conducted at Mt Olivet Cemetery, McGaheysville, Virginia on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at 2 p.m. His Pastor Angela Shifflett and son, Jacob, will be officiating the service. 

Until we meet again, dear Ralph. Your memory will live on in the hearts of those who shared countless laughs with you.
